JAF Vol 10, No. 1 is out

The editors of the Journal of Anthropological Films (JAF) are pleased to announce the release of the latest issue (Volume 10, No. 1).

Read the editorial here and watch the selected works here.

The four works featured in this issue include a short 16mm film that draws upon remediated archival traces that evoke colonial histories; a documentary that uses an old dollhouse to help a Swedish family reconnect with memories of a traumatic past; a sensory ethnography of an archaeological site in Bulgaria where the emotional artifacts eclipse the physical; and a collaborative film project exploring the daily experiences of a group of teenage boys who are recent immigrants to Finland. While these films showcase diverse topics and approaches, they are characterized by a shared preoccupation with partial fragments and embodied stories. Each film speaks, in its own distinctive way, to individual and collective pasts, conversations, encounters, archives and histories.
